Wood can be created into both curves and straight lines, closing and opening spaces, thick and thin. Wanting to show both sides of this contrast, I designed a frame and created it by cutting, sticking, and rubbing. Another aspect I love about wood is its grains, which enables us to look into the inner space of wood in a 2D form, so I painted the grain pattern on paper. Apart from the physical characteristics of the wood itself, I also researched what various types of wood are created from, and what they can be transformed into—wooden plants and paper. Bamboo sticks and torn paper were then used to mimic the stems and leaves of climbing plants. The leaves were glued at an angle that matched wooden grains on the frame.
